iSight: Banding Under a 50 Hz Fluorescent Light Source

When used under 50 Hz fluorescent lighting, the image from the iSight camera may have bands.

Symptom

Images from the iSight camera have bands, or flicker.

This happens when a 50 Hz fluorescent light is the only light source.

Solution

Add a light source that does not cycle, such as incandescent or halogen bulbs, or use sunlight. If there is enough reflected light in the room, the banding may not appear.
